European Business Register
The CRO is a participant in The European Business Register. The register is a network of business registers kept by the registration authorities in most of the European countries. The EBR has issued a warning regarding a false website passing themselves off as the EBR. Please see note on the EBR website
.
Change to Day of Strike-off: Day of Publication of Dissolution in CRO Gazette
The following changes will take place with effect from Friday 3rd May 2013:
- The day that CRO strikes companies off the register (for failure to file annual returns) will change from Sunday to Friday (with strike-off occurring on Friday 3rd May instead of Sunday 5th May).
- The day of publication of dissolution in the CRO Gazette will also change from Friday to Wednesday (with date of publication of dissolution occurring on Wednesday 8th May, for companies struck off on Friday 3rd May).
Please note that this will not affect the strike off process in any other way. The provisions of the Companies Acts 1963 - 2012 regarding statutory notices, time periods, and publication in the CRO Gazette have not changed and will continue to be adhered to. The change is administrative and does not affect any legal provisions.
Bulk Data
CRO sells its data in "bulk" through two products: one that provides regular uploads of data; and the other which delivers regular uploads of scanned copies of CRO documents. The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation recently decided to license the sale of scanned copies of historic CRO documents. In this regard, a "full load" of all scanned copies of live CRO documents can now be purchased by clients who sign-up as a "bulk customer".
The images are priced according to their age, and are available under licence. For further information on the new product, please visit Re-Use of Information page.

Company Bill 2012
The Companies Bill 2012 has been published and is available from the Oireachtas website
. The Bill proposes many changes to Company Law and consolidation of the various Companies Acts. The Bill is a piece of proposed legislation awaiting enactment. It will still be some time before enactment and the Bill may undergo some changes. Please also see Information on Bill based on first draft. The Bill does not yet have legal effect.
------------------------------
B1- Annual returns and accounts - SEND BACK LETTERS
Where an annual return is sent back by CRO for correction or for fees, Section 249A, Companies Act 1990, requires that the errors/omissions must be corrected and a fully compliant document delivered to the CRO within 14 days.
If a fully compliant document is not delivered to the CRO within 14 days, the original document will be deemed not to have been delivered to the Registrar. The re-submitted document will then be treated as a fresh submission, potentially resulting in the company incurring late filing penalties and losing any entitlement to claim audit exemption for two years.
---------------------------------
CRO Open Services - Extended Functionality
The CRO has further developed its "Open Services" facility. Open Services is an Application Programming Interface (API) which allows software developers include free company and submission data from the CRO in their applications.
From 29th November, Customer Account holders who are registered for Open Services can now also integrate the streaming of documents from the CRO into their applications. This enables developers to display a document for a submission directly to their customers and to dramatically cut the lead time in purchasing an image.
Cost per image is the same as it is to purchase the image directly through the CRO company search site.

CRO Customer Accounts
All Customer Account details, including recent transactions and statements, are now available on-line in www.CORE.ie. Accordingly, from 1 January 2013, the CRO will no longer be issuing Customer Account statements by post.
In order to view your Customer Account details on-line, if you have not already done so, you will need to register in CORE by clicking on https://core.cro.ie/Main/register_iri.jsp.
Once registered, you can view your transactions by clicking on My Accounts/ Add/ and by entering your customer number and PIN. You will only need to do this once and all of your details will be available each time you log in to CORE.
The new facility offers Account holders a range of additional features such as
- the facility to view up-to-date transactions and the current balance,
- to open a statement either in Excel or in a printable format which replicates the old Statement,
- to access all statements since the account was opened,
- to deposit funds or open a new account on-line.
A new Customer Account can be opened on-line at https://www.cro.ie/search/NewCustomer.aspx. The Account can be topped up using a Credit Card and can be used to pay for filing fees and penalties when filing submissions electronically through CORE.
