Receiving documents as attachments

When receiving the email from the Companies Registration Office, the company report or the documents will be sent as attachment(s) to the e-mail message. The company report is attached as a pdf file and can be opened using acrobat software.

The documents returned are scanned images of the original documents and are saved as multipage TIFF files. You can choose to have the images sent as TIFF or pdf. Pdf documents can be opened using Adobe Acrobat softwareLinks to external website. To view multipage TIFF images, you will need an image viewer or a TIFF viewer that supports multipage TIFFs. You will know whether your machine has an images viewer, to associate with files with a file extension of 'TIF', in that the icon for the attachment will be a small picture, otherwise it will be the default icon.

Standard on all Microsoft Windows 95 and NT machines is a TIFF viewer called 'Wang Imaging'. This in most cases will be installed as part of the default setup. If it is not, you will have to get your system administrator to install imaging on your machine. This can be done simply, but you must have the Operating System CD or the disks that were shipped with your machine.

To install follow the instructions below:

  1. Open up the control panel double click on the 'Add/Remove' programs icon.
  2. Click on the Windows Setup tab.
  3. Scroll down until you see a grouping called imaging. View the details for this group.
  4. Check the check box, next to 'Imaging' and then click on OK.
  5. Click the apply button, and you will be prompted to enter the CD or disks.
  6. Reboot the machine.
