Reasons for PPSN match failure
If your submission is rejected with the following error message: "One or more PPSNs were invalid, or names or dates of birth did not match," Please make sure the following four points of verification for each director match before getting in touch with the CRO.
- Registered First Name in the Dept of Social Protection (DSP)
- Registered Last Name in the Dept of Social Protection (DSP)
- Date of Birth
- PPSN
Names
In the First Name field, you would put the name you are known as. For example, you may now use the Irish version of your first name, maybe Sean for John or Seamus for James.
Because of this, we have the alternate first name field. In this field, a director would put the first names on record with the Dept of Social Protection. Please note that the director can continue to use the primary first name on the CRO records. The alternate first names are not publicly visible.
The same applies to the Last Name field, where the director may have changed their last name. An example may be a difference in the maiden/married name.
We have an alternate last name field as with the first name field. In this field, a director would put the last name that is on record with the Dept of Social Protection. Please note that the last name on public records can continue to be used. Additionally, please note that the alternate last name is not publicly
Below image shows where on Form A1 (other forms share same format) you should enter the Registered name from DSP if it is different to the main preference name;

Date of Birth
PPSN-related
The date of birth must match what is on record with the Dept of Social Protection for that PPSN and with the CRO record for the Director signing.
The CRO does not have access to the Department of Social Protection to look up the date of birth of a director. While we would expect the date of birth on record with the Department of Social Protection for the director to be accurate, the CRO cannot guarantee that it is. The director can check for themselves by contacting

What is probable, if the date of birth is inaccurate is that the date of birth on record with the CRO is not correct. Please check the date of birth that the CRO has on record. You can do this by initiatiating a B10 filing process and this can be done by following the following steps the How-to-find-the-Director-date-of-birth-on-CRO-records
Q How can I find out which director is mis-matching so I can narrow it down without contacting all directors?
A A function exists for an email address to be entered for PPSN Holders only.
If the presenter enters their own email address, and the return fails on the identity requirements, you will receive an instant notification addressed to the mis-matching director outlining information on their data. This tells you it is this person who continues to fail on 1 of 4 items of data.
