Review of Business Names Act 1963
The Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation is reviewing the Registration of Business Names Act 1963. As part of the review process,
the Department is seeking submissions from interested parties.
The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Tuesday, 10 September 2019.
Taking Care of Business
A free one-stop-shop event for SMEs, start-ups and entrepreneurs, ‘Taking
Care of Business’, will take place on Wednesday, 2nd October, in the Sheraton
Hotel, Gleeson Street, Athlone. This half-day event is for those who own
or manage a small business or are thinking of starting a new business.

Central Register of Beneficial Ownership of companies and
industrial & provident societies (RBO)
The Registrar of Companies has been appointed as the Registrar of Beneficial
Ownership of Companies and Industrial & Provident Societies with effect from
29 July 2019. Accordingly, the RBO is open to accept filings.
Filing of beneficial ownership data can only be made on-line through a portal
on the RBO website at www.rbo.gov.ie. There are no paper forms and no filing
Companies and societies will have until Friday 22 November to file their data
with the RBO without being in breach of their statutory duty to file.

Reasons for submission rejection (RBO)
The RBO Register is designed to accept and register submissions when all details entered are correct. Under Data Protection regulations, the RBO does not have access to the personal details entered by the presenter. Personal details are verified against Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP). They are not verified with the Revenue Commissioners.
